The Climb to L.I.G.H.T.

John describes eternity in Revelation 21:4 as the day when Jesus will wipe away every tear and remove every sorrow. That’s the destination I long for.

But what about the journey? Jesus tells us in Matthew 16:24: “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”

Why would we choose a life of self-denial? Because God promises something far greater — the joy of knowing Him.

In my memoir L.I.G.H.T. (Living in God’s Holy Truth)®, I explore five questions every Christian must face:

  • Who am I?

  • What’s the point of my life?

  • How do I build healthy relationships?

  • How do I forgive the unforgivable?

  • How do I leave a lasting legacy?

The answer to each is the same: Jesus.

The Christian Life Is a Climb

The Christian life is like ascending a mountain toward the summit — where one day we will meet the risen Lord face-to-face.

  • The Base: God formed us from the dust (Genesis 2:7) and gave us our true identity in Him.

  • The Sides: Step by step, trial by trial, we grow in maturity through obedience, learning that life’s purpose is found not by looking sideways at possessions or approval, but by looking upward to our Father.

  • The Peak: eternal life with God.

Until then, we live as S.A.L.T. (Serving and Loving Together) and L.I.G.H.T. (Living in God’s Holy Truth)®. We follow Paul’s call in Philippians 2:3-4 to serve others with humility and sacrificial love. We climb side-by-side with the people God puts in our lives, keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus (Hebrews 12:1-2).

Why This Book Matters for You

Along the way, we will stumble. We may lose fellow travelers. But every detour offers new grace, strength, and faith to press on. Jesus gives us what we need to find peace in conflict, forgive from the heart, and love even our enemies (Mark 10:45).

Thomas Aquinas wrote in Summa Theologica (I–II, Q.1, Art.8) that God is the summum bonum — the highest good. He is the supreme object of our happiness and the source of all goodness. That is the God who calls us toward this upward aim.

This memoir is my story — but it’s also a guide for your climb. You’ll discover how God uses our hardest seasons to shape our identity, deepen our relationships, and prepare us for the summit: eternal life with Him.

Climb, little Christian. Climb.
